MAY I fully agree with Mrs Thompson about shops not taking bank notes other than English.
I was in business in the town centre for over 40 years and not once did I refuse a Scottish or Northern Irish note. When these notes are paid into the bank there is a special section for the amount on the paying slip.
I travel over to Northern Ireland four times a year and shops always accept my English notes, even the smallest corner shop. And always with a smile.
So any shop that refuses these notes should be boycotted at once. They don't deserve your custom.
