THREE days after the first team take on Preston North End at Deepdale, Ronnie Jepson's reserves travel to Wolves for an Avon Insurance Premier Division game.

The Clarets lost their unbeaten record under Ronnie Jepson against Rotherham United at Turf Moor in midweek but the manager is not losing any sleep over it.

"The most important thing at this club is the first team," he said. "That is the be all and end all.

"Everything in the reserves is geared towards helping the manager with the first team."

That is not to say he was not unhappy with the team's first home defeat of the season and he will be demanding an improvement against Wolves, currently below them in the table.

The Midlands club has far greater resources than the Clarets, fielding both Under-19 and Under-17 teams as well as having a large senior squad, and so Jepson can expect to face a strong side in the match that will be played at RAF Cosford.

But the Clarets will be looking to record a double over Wolves having beaten them in August thanks to a single strike from Dimitri Papadopolous.

The Greece Under-21 striker was in good form in midweek and Jepson felt he was "bright and lively" throughout.

The display might have been enough to earn him a place on the bench for the first team at Deepdale tomorrow.

It was admittedly a cold night on Wednesday at Turf Moor but only one player wore gloves.

Burnley is most definitely not Athens and it was the young striker Papadopoulos who opted for the extra protection on his hands.

Perhaps the referee felt that the front man was a bit soft as he booked him for diving even though he appeared to be fouled twice by Millers defenders as he bore down on goal.
