CONTROVERSIAL plans to extend part of the building at Woodhead Bros Meat Co in Colne will be discussed by councillors on Thursday after the application was deferred at the last two meetings.

Plans were deferred in October for details of how the odour extraction system would cope with extra production and on drainage/sewage problems.

It was deferred in November to allow councillors, representatives of businesses in the immediate area and the firm to meet to discuss problems associated with the odour control system.

Council planners now recommend approval, saying "there is no legitimate planning reason to withhold planning permission any longer."
