A DATABASE of pet lovers willing to give animals a temporary home is to be set up by Rossendale's Dog Warden David East.

He said: "Often when people go into hospital they struggle to find someone to look after their pet, so I would like to compile a list of people who would be willing to take in animals, of all kinds for a short time.

"The cost of boarding an animal at a kennel or cattery can be beyond some people, but if we could get a database of names of people willing to help we could, hopefully, help these pets be looked after and returned to their owners once they can care for them again."

The database would also be available for agencies to use when people needed help to get their pets and themselves out of difficult circumstances.

The carers will all be vetted. Anyone who wants to help can contact David on 01706 244552.
