A SCHEME designed to promote family learning has been hailed a massive success -- and is set to be repeated next year.
Lancashire County Council's Family Passport initiative provided families across the county with discounted entry to hundreds of attractions which laid on special events designed to promote learning throughout October.
More than 110 events were held in 40 venues, with more than 5,000 people taking part.
On top of that, 800 requests for Passports -- which gave families discounted entry to attractions, many of which were in East Lancashire -- were received by the council.
The idea of the scheme was to encourage parents to get involved in learning with their children.
A spokesman for Lancashire County Council said: "The majority of the events were fully subscribed and some even had waiting lists.
"Families have indicated they are keen to have more events of this kind in the future.
"The possibilities for development are substantial and we are planning to repeat it next year."
