RESIDENTS in Bank Top will be out in force this weekend as they join Groundwork staff to plant a boundary hedge in their newly landscaped green, attracting wildlife to the local urban area.
The community space, known as Arthur Street Green, was recently completed by Groundwork Blackburn following consultation with residents.
The green features two large stone seats, a footpath through the site and several grassed areas. The hedgerow will add the finishing touches to the site and hopefully attract a variety of wildlife to enhance the local ecosystem.
Charlotte Taylor, project officer at Groundwork, said: " The green has successfully transformed an under-used piece of land into an exciting community facility.
"We want local residents to come along and join us in this planting event to complete the scheme and enhance its wildlife potential and beauty."
Residents are welcome to go along and take part in the hedgerow planting. The group will meet on Saturday at Arthur Street Green, behind the Cheethams Pub, in Lawrence Street, between 11am and 1pm.
