A NEW fascination with steam trains created by the Harry Potter film looks set to provide a boost for Bury's East Lancashire Railway.
The attraction, which already brings thousands of visitors to the town every year, is to be included in an Internet campaign to promote Britain overseas. Bury council's tourism marketing officer, Jill Youlton, said: "Because of the immense interest which has been generated by the movie, the British Tourist Authority has produced its own Harry Potter -- Discovering the Magic of Britain Map website. Visitors can discover locations from the film, and the magical and mythical heritage of Britain."
She added: "Because it is a steam railway, the ELR has also been included. In fact, the railway is the only attraction in Greater Manchester in the guide."
At the moment the ELR runs regular weekend services along the scenic Bury to Rossendale line. To access the map click onto www.visitbritain.com
"So for visitors to the region, especially those with young children, it will hopefully turn out to be something that they just won't want to miss.
