IN reply to Mrs Elaine Hutchison's remarks regarding Scottish banknotes being legal tender (Letters, November 29), they are not legal tender in England.
Also, English bank notes can be refused in Scotland, as they are not legal tender in Scotland. Only coins of the realm are legal tender and cannot be refused in either England or Scotland.
