AN 83-year-old man who had been without heating for two months had his problem solved in two days after a local councillor intervened.
Peter Nabbs had no heating at his council flat in Hayward House, off Flapper Fold Lane, Atherton after a water main burst in the flat above.
A friend of Mr Nabbs said the pensioner had been without heating for the past two months. The problem was creating damp in the flat, causing it to smell and he was forced him to go out everyday just to keep warm.
A concerned friend contacted councillor Bob Splaine on Thursday, who, after making contact with the pensioner, arranged for an electrician to fix the problem on Friday.
Cllr Splaine said: "It's wrong for anyone to be in this situation, especially someone of his age and at this time of year. I'll be keeping an eye on things to make sure he is okay."
