BURY'S drive to sign up local car salesmen to a fair play code is gaining momentum.
Three more dealerships have adopted a Fair Play Charter in a scheme run by trading standards officers.
Local company BCC has signed up its Citroen, Hyundai and Suzuki dealerships, which are all based in Tottington Road, Bury.
They will join the borough's other charter members, Bury Motors, Grimshaws, and the recently-signed Finneys Car Sales.
Councillor Pam Walker, Bury's public protection spokesman, said: "By committing themselves to the charter, BCC has agreed to comply with a range of terms and conditions set out by trading standards staff which are designed to benefit customers.
"In return, trading standards has agreed to provide support and training to dealership staff to help them meet their customer satisfaction requirements."
Coun Walker added: "The scheme is open to any business involved in the motor trade who can show it is committed to fair, honest trade with consumers. It covers the sale of new and used cars, as well as servicing and repairs.
"In the coming months, we hope to encourage even more dealerships to get involved in something which we feel certain will not only benefit customers, but the companies themselves."
