PENSIONER Barry Boltondeserves a medal.
He spends every weekday morning picking up trash on White Ash playing fields, Oswaldtwistle, and reckons there would be far less for him to collect if the council installed more bins.
After one was set on fire by yobs, only two bins are left.
Hyndburn Council says it cannot afford any extra. So, despite having a pension of less than £80 a week, Barry pledges to buy some more himself -- and empty them.
If a bloke with so little to live on can manage to afford more bins, why can't the council with a budget of millions?
It's a poor do. And instead of thanking Barry for his kindness, council leader Peter Britcliffe should be getting this problem sorted.
