A LANCASTER licensee has written to senior police chiefs asking for clarification regarding the local drugs enforcement laws.
Mark Harding of the Warehouse on North Road claims the local situation is very confusing as some clubs have an amnesty for reporting drugs offences while other venues have individual cases logged against them.
In a recent incident a man apprehended by his security staff for Class A drugs offences and handed over to the police received a caution but this incident is now included as evidence in a police report to revoke the Warehouse club's public entertainment license.
Mr Harding said: "We have taken a pro-active approach to drugs enforcement but it turns out that every incident in which we've handed people over to the police is now being used as evidence against us.
"I cannot believe that there appears to be one law operating for some licensed premises but another law for others? I believe a pro-active approach is the correct procedure and I'm looking for clarification from the police that any amnesty applies equally to all licensed premises."
