AMENDED plans for the rebuilding of the Palatine WMC in Nelson have been given the thumbs-up by the Nelson area committee.

Councillors raised no objections to the proposals when first considering the plans last month but the application was brought back to the council after a letter of objection was submitted during the publicity period.

Concerns were raised about various points in relation to the layout of the club, windows and doors, but planning manager Andy Wiggett pointed out that the majority of those concerns were part of the original permitted use.

The plans included function/club rooms on both floors, each with a bar and kitchen.
