PUPILS at Primet High School in Colne learned about the work of the police armed response unit when two officers visited and gave a talk.

PCs Dave Pasco and Tony Roberts spoke to years seven, eight and nine about their role in the police and about the legislation concerning firearms.

The visit was part of the unit's tour of local schools and was aimed at raising awareness about the dangers and laws relating to weapons.

Headteacher Janet Walsh said: "It was very well received and was very interesting and informative. They brought in with them a selection of weapons but obviously with no ammunition, including replica guns, air guns and toy guns.

"We are very keen to work with the police in a pro-active way as opposed to reacting to problems as they happen. Hopefully we can solve them together."
