LANCASTER City's love affair with the Unibond league cup came crashing to an end on Tuesday evening with a defeat at Lancashire rivals Bamber Bridge.
The Dolly Blues, who have also lost at Kendal in the same competition this year, went down to an Andy Moran goal on Tuesday night.
City had won the competition for the last two years in a row, but will not be heading for the second round this year.
Boss Tony Hesketh said: "It was a fantastic achievement to go as far as we did without losing in that competition.
"It was something like 20 games by the end and that is amazing given the format the competition is played in. It will be a long time before that is repeated.
"A season takes many twists and turns but our success in the FA Cup this season put paid to our chances in one or two other competitions."
