THE HELP the Aged shop on School Street in Darwen is one of the places people can go to donate their unwanted glasses.
The charity is running an appeal called World in Sight where glasses which are useless to their original owners can help to benefit the lives of people in developing countries who otherwise would not have access to them.
So far the charity has collected 300 spectacles from around the county. Lucienne Stephens from Help the Aged said: "We would like to thank everyone who responded to the appeal.
"These donated glasses not only bring improved vision but also independence, dignity and the chance of earning a livelihood again."
Sight deterioration is natural with age and the world's older population is growing -- particularly in developing countries."
If you own a pair of unwanted glasses you can donate them to the World in Sight appeal by dropping into the Darwen branch of Help the Aged.
For further information on the appeal call the hot-line number on 0870 7700 446.
