CAROLE Taylor, one of Lancashire County Council's Waste Minimisation team, has been highly commended at a prestigious waste industry awards ceremony.
Carole joined the County Council's Waste Management Group in August 2000 and has already made an impact.
Together with her colleagues, she has helped create a number of green initiatives that have placed Lancashire at the forefront of waste minimisation.
She took the runners-up prize in the Recycling Officer of the Year section, at the recent annual National Recycling Awards. -- a major achievement considering the competition from across the country.
The aim is to go one better next year.
County Councillor Brian Johnson, Cabinet Member for Community and Regeneration, said: "I am delighted that Carole's contribution has been recognised in this way.
"Our entry was submitted some months ago and I am certain that Carole would have won the top prize if the judging had been done today. We would have run away with the top prize.
"So much has been achieved in such a short time. I am certain that our Waste Minimisation Team will build on this success over the next year and keep Lancashire at the front of the green crusade."
