FROM the £750m the Government set aside from the National Lottery last year to improve schools sports facilities across the UK, Lottery distributor New Opportunities Fund has decided £4.3m should go to schools in the Leigh and Wigan area.
Detailed plans will be developed for how the money should be spent. The idea is that new facilities built under the scheme will be available for use by the local community and sports clubs out of school hours.
Leigh MP Andy Burnham said it is very satisfying to see it benefiting local schools, and it is another example of how Labour is delivering in Leigh.
