LEIGH RMI manager Steve Waywell is desperate to bury the Doncaster Rovers hoodoo when the two sides meet at Hilton Park on Saturday.

The Railwaymen have failed to score against the South Yorkshire side in their past three meetings, all of which have resulted in defeat for Waywell's struggling side. However, the manager remains upbeat as his side hopes to record only their fourth league victory of the season at headquarters.

"I am really looking forward to the Doncaster game and I am quite confident that we will get a result", the manager enthused. "We have only played poorly in a handful of games this season and I know that if we carry on playing as we are, then we will be okay. We played well against Margate and our confidence is up now because we got a draw and perhaps deserved to win. The lads will be up for the fight."

Doncaster started the season as hot favourites to land a return to the Football League but after a bright start which saw them beat the Railwaymen on a controversial night at Belle Vue, their title challenge has faltered among the resignation of chairman Jim Ryan, proposals for a new ground and financial difficulties which routinely seems to plague almost every club at Conference level.

Nevertheless, Leigh will have to defend the threat of midfield danger man Jamie Patterson if they are to emerge from the game with any points.

He netted the winner from the penalty spot in last year's meeting and hammered a further two in April's return fixture. He was missing for the clash earlier in the season, but scored in Rovers' 1-1 draw with Yeovil last Saturday.

Leigh expect to name a similar squad to that that lined up against Margate last Saturday, although Ged Kielty and Ian Swan are reported to have been transfer-listed.
