A FIVE-YEAR-OLD Preston girl has kept it in the family by having a drawing exhibited in the town's Harris museum alongside her father's work.

Charlotte Cullen entered a drawing of Harry Potter into the annual Celebration of Local Talent exhibition after her father Martin, a professional artist, asked her if she would like to take part.

Now the work will form part of the exhibition, which starts tomorrow (FRI) at the Art Bazaar Gallery, in Guild Hall Street, Preston.

Mr Cullen will have two works exhibited.

Charlotte is a pupil at St Mary's and St Patrick's RC Catholic School, Church Street, Walton-le-Dale, Preston.

The youngster was presented with an art kit by deputy Mayor Councillor Joe Hood for her work.

She said: "I love Harry Potter and I have a lot of things about him at home. I've been to see the film and I'm going again.

"I really enjoyed drawing the picture for the museum.

"When I grow up I want to be an artist like my daddy and travel around the world." Mr Cullen, who frequently exhibits his work in America, said his daughter had been to see the Harry Potter film the day before she sat down to do her drawing.

"She's very good for a five-year-old. I was quite chuffed as a dad to be co-exhibiting with my five-year-old daughter.

"I never thought I would see the day."

The youngster has been drawing and painting since she was a baby.

But proud dad Martin said he wouldn't like to influence her in her choice of career.

"I wouldn't like to impose that on my child. I want her to be free," he said.

Lyndsey Taylor, spokesman for the Art Bazaar Gallery, said: "We are very keen to encourage young budding artists like Charlotte.

"Charlotte's work was lovely and a welcome addition to the exhibition."

The exhibition, which was open to artists of all ages, will run until the middle of January.
