PADIHAM County Councillor Marcus Johnstone says the solution to Padiham's traffic problems can be tackled simply -- with a can of paint.
He claims lorries which pass through the town can be redirected off the M65 by making amendments to motorway signs.
He said: "It might sound daft, but the problem of heavy traffic in Padiham really could be solved if someone went out and bought a couple of cans of paint.
"Lorry drivers travelling to Clitheroe are currently directed off the motorway at junction 10, which takes them along Padiham Road and then through the town centre.
"They should be directed off the motorway at junction eight, taking them on to the Shuttleworth Hall link Road and avoids Padiham town centre.
"It is a more direct route and gets them to Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley quicker while at the same time keeping them out of the town centre."
