RUNSHAW COLLEGE have had cause for celebration this term following the success of their football, basketball and cross-country squads.
The academy five-a-side football team were crowned North West champions after triumphing over South Trafford 9-1 in the final at the JJB Soccerdome in Wigan.
They also recorded some notable scalps on the way to the final by defeating local rivals Preston College on penalties in the quarter finals and Lancaster & Morecambe in the semi-finals.
These were particular impressive victories given that both Preston and Lancaster have run academy teams for a number of years now and included several semi-professional players in their ranks.
Runshaw can now look forward to a trip to the National Championships at Swansea in April next year.
And they will be joined in Swansea by the male and female Cross Country squads after they claimed the North West title.
The Basketball squad are also gunning for national glory after qualifying for the North West play-offs.
However the men's hockey squad narrowly missed out on National status by coming 3rd in the North West finals.
