ROSSENDALE is set to celebrate the Queen's jubilee in style, thanks to volunteers from Haslingden Community Forum.
A meeting of the jubilee committee was held to organise events for next summer and ideas discussed include sporting competitions, photography exhibitions, tree planting, street plays, story telling, bands and flower shows.
Chairman of Haslingden Community Forum Michael Murray said: "The voluntary and community sector has had a large part to play in the jubilee celebrations and the jubilee committee will act as co-ordinator to ensure the celebration will be attractive and enjoyed by all sections of the community."
At its first meeting the committee also decided that the theme for events would be 50 years in Rossendale, a look at changes in people's lives and contributions made to the Valley's towns and villages over the last half century.
The committee includes members from the Haslingden Community Forum, which represents voluntary and community throughout Rossendale.
Michael added: "The forum is trying to involve the council and other organisations on the committee. I'd also encourage any other group or individual who wants to get involved to call Irene or Emma on 01706 229330."
The committee next meets on January 7 at 7pm at the Mary Hindle Resource Centre, Bury Road, Haslingden.
