LIKE many ex-St Mary's High School pupils, aged 40-plus, I remember Miss Reddy with great kindness and was sad to hear she had died (Citizen, December 6).
She was a pillar of the community who dedicated her life to teaching and helping those less fortunate.
As a female teacher in a 'man's world' Miss Reddy fought hard to win the respect of her male peers and was a symbol of how women could reach the top of their chosen profession and do just as good a job as their male counterparts -- if not better!
Thinking of her now as I'm writing this letter I know she would never have wanted such praise as I've written here, she would probably say that she was just doing her job.
