PUPILS at Brunshaw County Primary School, Burnley, have been busy making delicious sweets to share with family and friends at Christmas.
The youngsters and their families have been hard at work preparing a range of tasty menus for a proposed Parent Teacher Friends' Association recipe book.
School governor Gill Clark said the book would contain fish and meat dishes and recipes for treats such as gingerbread men and chewy chocolate chip cookies. The book should be ready for Mother's Day in March and will be sold at £1 to raise cash for school funds.
Pupil Melissa Short, who is in class 5/6G, has provided her recipe for peppermint creams.
Peppermint Creams
Ingredients:
225g (8oz) fondant icing
Few drops of peppermint essence
Green food colouring (optional)
Icing sugar
Method:
Gradually knead peppermint essence and food colouring, if used, into fondant icing. Roll out on work surface dusted with icing sugar to 0.25cm (1/8in) thick. Cut into shapes with a 2.5cm (1in) biscuit cutter. Leave for 24 hours until firmer. Makes 20.
