FOUR hard-working guides from Salesbury were among the first in East Lancashire to receive the prestigious Baden Powell awards.
Lauren Grime, 14, Justine Greenwood, 14, Beth Richardson, 15, and Samantha Claxton, 13, all from the 1st Salesbury Guides, received their awards from district commissioner Andrea Claxton in a service at St Peter's Church, Salesbury.
The four had worked for more than a year to receive their awards, working through 10 challenges from organising events to celebrate Diwali and fair trade and going on a challenge weekend involving everything from rock climbing to self defence. The Baden Powell award is the highest honour a guide can receive.
