Christmas comes alive this Wednesday when Blackburn celebrates with a massive firework display in the grounds of Blackburn Cathedral followed by the Lancashire Evening Telegraph Carol Concert.
This year's firework display, which is being put together by Millennium Pyrotechnics, promises to be the best ever.
This local company feature in London's Lord Mayor's Show and were involved in the Millennium Firework Display at the Dome.
For Blackburn's Christmas display they will include rockets, shells and a starburst trailer which has not been seen in this country before. It takes place on Wednesday, December 19, starting at 6.30pm, with the Carol Concert following at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend.
We are also looking for a youngster to start this year's display. If you have a child aged between six and 12 who would like to do this simply send their name and address, plus a daytime telephone number on the back of an envelope or card, to Blackburn Firework Display, Lancashire Evening Telegraph, Newspaper House, High Street, Blackburn BB1 1 HT.
Closing date is first post on Tuesday, December 18.
The first name out of the hat will also receive a swatch watch courtesy of Ainsworth's Jewellers, Darwen Street, Blackburn. Employees of this newspaper and their families are not eligible to enter.
