RESIDENTS are being urged to nominate Chorley's two chief achievers.

The search is on for two extra special individuals who do so much for others but ask so little in return.

The proud pair will then go forward to take part in a county dinner for People of Achievement in Lancashire next spring.

The aim is to highlight 'ordinary' people who have done something extraordinary -- perhaps by fundraising, overcoming handicap or reaching a personal goal.

Councillor Cath Hoyle, executive member for sport, arts, community development and environmental issues, said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for Chorley to say a big thank you to those individuals who never look for praise and yet do so much for our community, family and friends.

"There are some wonderful people around, individuals who never think twice about helping others and who never expect anything in return.

"Then there are those who overcome all the odds in order to achieve their own personal goals or objectives, despite the difficulties that might involve. These are the people we hope will be nominated for the Achievement Awards."

Nominations, including a short explanatory note as to why the individuals are likely candidates, should be sent by Wednesday, January 9 to Chorley Council's community development officer Liz Morey at the Civic Offices, Union Street, Chorley PR7 1AL. Nominees must be over the age of 14.
