AMERICAN hot-shot Josh Wolff plans to win a dream ticket to next summer's World Cup finals by proving himself in the Premiership with Rovers.
The United States international swooped into Blackburn earlier this week to spend a fortnight training with Rovers as manager Graeme Souness continues to explore ways of beefing up his strike-force.
And, if the Chicago Fire hitman manages to win himself a permanent deal over the next two weeks, then it could boost his hopes of appearing in Japan and South Korea.
"I don't know how it all works in terms of sorting out a possible transfer," said Wolff.
"But I look at this as a great opportunity to experience something new and this is a league I would love to come and play in at some point."
Wolff has already made 10 appearances for the US national side as well as appearing in their Olympic team.
And, with World Cup fever currently gripping the States after Bruce Arena's side recently qualified for the finals, he would relish the chance to showcase his talents on a Premiership stage in the build up to next summer.
"There'll be a big push come the New Year regarding our preparations for the World Cup," said Wolff.
"We've got a tournament scheduled and a bunch of friendlies after Christmas so to get in the squad would be great and to make the World Cup would be brilliant.
"But first things first, you've got to try and get some form and that's what I'm trying to do right now."
Compared in some quarters to Michael Owen, Wolff was initially recommended to Rovers by fellow American Brad Friedel.
But Souness is keeping an open mind about his suitability for the club whilst he takes a closer look at him in training.
"Josh is going to train with us for a couple of weeks and we'll see how things go," said Souness.
"I'm told he's similar to Michael Owen in terms of his style of play because he's supposed to be very, very quick."
Wolff certainly comes to England with an impressive track record, having featured regularly for the US national side.
But he is quick to play down comparisons with Owen even though he does admit their styles of play might be similar.
"I wouldn't put my name up there with Owen," said Wolff.
"But a lot of my game is all about running off the ball, getting behind defenders and speed obviously helps.
"At the end of the day, though, it's all about how you finish in front of goal because that's what your job is as a forward.
"If you can do that, then you're going to be successful."
Wolff currently plays for Chicago Fire in the US National Soccer League but missed most of last season through injury.
However, he has scored around 25 goals in the last three seasons.
And the fact he currently holds a European passport would alleviate any problems regarding a work permit.
He is expected to stay at Brockhall until the 24th when Souness will then make a decision on his future. But he has been settled in quickly so far, thanks in no small part to Friedel.
"I'd looked at how the team were doing before I came over but then when I got here Brad went through how the team were faring and filled me in about the players," said Wolff. "They seemed to be a great bunch of lads so it should be good to be around them over the next week or so."
