DO young women drink too much or is it a case of girls just wanna have fun? We asked the Friday customers in Burnley town centre bars after recent national reports on binge drinking.
Auxiliary nurse Hazel Savage, 18, of Padiham, said: "I drink about eight bottles when I am out mostly on a weekend.
"I am not concerned about how much I drink but I know all about the effects because I studied it as part of my college course on health studies.
"I am not concerned because I moderate it to just weekends and I am careful with what I drink."
Selina Gudgeon, 18, of Rosegrove Lane, Burnley, said: "I drink about eight bottles when I go out.
"I only drink on a weekend or a special occasion -- I am only in the pub this afternoon because it is a friend's birthday.
"No I am not concerned about possible effects on my health although the doctor told me about the possible effects and he has said be careful about what you drink."
Lindsay Dugdale, 24, from Padiham, said: "I drink about six pints of larger and about three alcopops when I am out on a night but I only go out once a week to have a drink.
"I don't think there will be any long term effects from what I drink."
Receptionist Zoe Cook, 25, of Burnley, said: "I drink five pints of lager and ten to 20 vodkas when I go out on a Thursday, Friday, Saturday and maybe Sunday sometimes.
"I only go out at the weekend so I don't think there are health problems and I don't drink at home, only when I am out."
Louise Brennan, 21, of Burnley, said: "I spend about £30 when I go out on a weekend on about five pints and ten vodkas. I go out every Friday, Saturday and Sunday with my friends to pubs and nightclubs.
"I am not concerned about my health because you only live once and I am going to enjoy it!"
Senior care assistant Nicola Innes, 22, of Brunshaw, Burnley, spends about £40 on a night out on lager and alcopops.
She said: "I go out on a weekend and only this week I was reading an article in a newspaper. I thought about drinking and I thought I am going overboard sometimes and I will try to cut down.
