A WEEK long blitz on car tax dodgers ended with more than 60 cars being clamped in the area. The scheme, which ran throughout last week in Blackburn and Darwen, claimed 81 cars.
Blackburn police and the DVLA teamed up for the operation, and clamped 64 cars and reported 17 to the DVLA. Local traffic wardens were the driving force of the operation and used their local knowledge to seek out repeat vehicle-licence dodgers.
Nigel Brooke, a warden who helped out, said: "This has been an excellent campaign. Not only have we succeeded in removing a number of illegal cars from the roads, we have also received some very positive comments from the public.
"There is no doubt that the public see vehicle licence dodgers in a very negative light. We receive hundreds of calls regarding out-of-date tax in vehicles and this operation has shown that we will not tolerate such offences."
