MIDWIFE Lorhine Rose is hoping to deliver a magnificent sum to an international charity.

The 35-year-old from Massey Street, Bury, is joining a group of adventurers who are hoping to trek to the Great Wall of China.

Miss Rose (pictured), who works at St Mary's Hospital, Manchester, already sponsors a child in The Gambia through the charity Action Aid.

Now she is hoping to raise at least £2,600 for the same organisation.

Although the walk does not take place until next year, the keen fund-raiser has already organised a whole host of events, including a massage and aromotheraphy evening to help boost the charity's funds in its fight against world poverty.

Once in China she will trek through 65km of gruelling terrain before experiencing first hand the majestic structure of the Great Wall.

Miss Rose said: "My challenge will push me to the limits.

"I hope that people and companies can help me anyway they can."

The money raised will be put in to work where it is needed most in the world, including Action Aid's programme in China.
