A HISTORIC map of Nelson has been reprinted, showing the town in 1910.
It includes a detailed history of Nelson at that time on the reverse written by Alan Crosby.
The scale map shows the town from Carr Hall and Lomeshaye to Glenfield Road, St John's Church and Clough Head.
It shows how Nelson, which was little more than a hamlet in the mid-19th Century was transformed by the opening of the East Lancashire Railway in 1849 and by the end of the century had become a cotton weaving town with huge mills and streets of terraced housing for workers.
The map, one of a series, is available at £2.10 from booksellers or the publisher Alan Godfrey Maps, Prospect Business Park, Leadgate, Consett, DH8 7PW. Add 50p for post and packing.
