A 65-YEAR-OLD man who was acquitted of trying to run over a traffic warden who was giving him a parking ticket has appeared back in court in connection with the same incident.

Glyn Shaw, of Cornwall Avenue, Knuzden, agreed to be bound over in the sum of £100 by Blackburn magistrates to keep the peace for six months.

A charge of using threatening behaviour was withdrawn.

Richard Mitcalf, prosecuting, said a female traffic warden was putting a ticket on Shaw's car which was parked in a restricted area outside Blackburn police station.

Shaw started shouting and swearing at the warden who said she was very unnerved by his behaviour

Elliott Taylforth, defending, said Shaw had actually been in the police station responding to a communication from them. When he came out he saw the warden attaching the ticket and what followed had eventually resulted in him going to Preston Crown Court.

He was acquitted of the serious charge at the Crown Court but he does accept that on the day he was upset and said things he shouldn't have said. She said the incident and the court appearances that have followed have caused him a great deal of stress and he now wants to put the whole matter behind him.
