A DRIVER who 'tailgated' vehicles as he drove along a rain-soaked motorway has lost his licence.
Phillip Ogden, 32, of Grane Road, Haslingden, was spotted by police on the M66 near to Bury and although the conditions were described as atrocious, Ogden was travelling at up to 70mph.
Ogden, who later told police he had been called in for a school contract because another driver was sick, was videoed as he raced up behind another car, hit his brakes and travelled just a couple of car lengths behind at speeds of between 60 and 70 mph.
When the car ahead pulled over, Ogden accelerated and did the same thing with another vehicle.
Having passed that, he was slowed behind a van and police saw him pull over to the central reservation as if looking for a gap to get through.
Ogden pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and was disqualified from driving for 12 months by Bury magistrates and ordered to re-sit his test before regaining his licence.
He must also do 120 hours community service.
