ANOTHER 40 jobs are to be created after Millers Bakery Machinery Ltd was given the go-ahead for a new extension to its Chesham Fold Road base in Bury.
Part of a new service depot and offices will be built on a section of Hoyles Park.
The land was sold by Bury Council to the company in September. Under the deal money from the sale plus a premium payment, which the Bury Times understands runs into six figures, will be spent on improvements to the park.
The expansion scheme initially sparked controversy and led to public meetings with locals concerned about the loss of park land.
However, the company said the extra production space was vital if it was to fulfil new contracts. It had also warned that up to 30 recently-created jobs would go by Christmas if the plan did not succeed.
Work on the extension should start in the new year.
