A DEVELOPMENT in Castle Road, in Colne, has been approved eight months after the original application was refused.
McDermott Developments intend to build nine detached houses and garages at Hill Crest and form a new access to them by demolishing a house on the site.
Four letters of objection had been submitted to the council.with concerns about highway safety, an increase in traffic, overdevelopment of the site and the effect on wildlife.
The access was amended and improved in the second application after the first was turned down due to poor visibility and a risk to highway safety.
Councillors followed planning officers advice to approve the new plans subject to 16 conditions relating to design, a traffic calming scheme, off-street parking, landscaping and access.
