THE Alcohol and Drug Service in Chorley is urging revellers to go easy with their drinking this festive period.
While it admits it is unrealistic to expect people to drink within their safe limits, the centre says people can take more care. Tips include:
Sip your drinks
Avoid drinking on an empty stomach
Alternate with soft drinks
Avoid rounds and say 'no' when you want to
Do not drink and drive
Women -- do not walk home alone, but do book taxis with reputable firms.
The centre says for some people Christmas is a time of dread when a family member has problems with drink.
If anyone is concerned about their own or someone else's drinking, the service offers a free, confidential service.
Based at 22 St Thomas's Road, Chorley, the telephone number is 01257 230222.
The offices are closed for three days over the Christmas period. However, the Drinkline number is 0800 917 8282, operating Monday to Friday 9am to 11pm; Saturday and Sunday 6pm to 11pm.
