GROUPS planning environmental projects in the Ribble Valley can now apply for funding to get their schemes under way.
The Green Partnership, made up of Lancashire County Council, United Utilities, the Environment Agency and, for the first time, Ribble Valley Borough Council, offers free advice and grants of £400 to help with buying materials, plants of tools, or to go towards the cost of using a contractor for specialist work.
Chris Smith from the Environment Agency said: "The Green Partnership offers expert advice to groups on environmental activities.
"We feel it's important to support people to learn about, enjoy and improve their environment and the Green Partnership is an excellent opportunity for people to get the advice they need and some money to start them off."
In 2000 the partnership won the National Gold award for its success in supporting people to improve and enjoy their local environment.
Groups that have already benefited include the Ribble Catchment Trust and Tosside Social Committee.
