STALLS held at Rawtenstall Asda during the Rossendale Valley Motorbike Show helped to raise cash for Ewood Day Care Centre in Haslingden.

The supermarket organised a barbecue, tea and coffee stall, second-hand book stall and helmet park on the car park of the store on Bocholt Way.

More than 20 colleagues volunteered their services for the day and £1,500 was raised. The Asda Foundation then agreed to add £500 to make the total donation up to £2,000.

A sensory room has been developed at the day care centre, which caters for adults with severe physical disabilities and behaviour problems, but the centre needed help to provide equipment.

Specialist sensory equipment and special mats for physio and aromatherapy sessions have been purchased with the cash.

Deputy manager at Ewood Sue Dunn said: "Some of the adults have quite profound difficulties and can be quite hard to reach. We do have some equipment in the room but not much. This money will make such a difference.

"The new equipment will help our people with touching, feeling, sensing and also relaxation and with some it can also help with communication."
