POLICE today revealed they were unlikely to question two members of Blackburn Rovers' staff again about an alleged sex offence.

But the man leading the inquiry said a full investigation into the matter was continuing.

The men, who have not been named, were quizzed after attending Blackburn police station voluntarily on Tuesday.

The allegation, believed to involve a woman, follows an incident alleged to have taken place at Blackburn Rovers' training complex at Brockhall Village, off the A59.

It followed the club's Christmas party at Ewood Park but club officials stressed it wasn't related to the party.

Today Det Chief Insp Steve Hartley said: "We do not anticipate having to speak to them again but we cannot rule it out.

"We will conduct a full investigation into the circumstances of this allegation until a satisfactory resolution is reached.

"If, as part of that investigation, we need to speak to anyone again, then we will do so."

A spokesman for the club said: "The club is aware that allegations have been made against two members of staff.

"The police have confirmed that the members of staff have been released without any charges.

"The club is making inquiries and when all the facts are established will decide what, if any, further action is appropriate."
