A DREAM garden designed by a local girl for the Queen's Golden Jubilee is set to become a reality.
The Mediterranean-style garden designed by former Lowton High pupil Jenny McCarthy will be unveiled next summer.
Jenny, a 23-year-old landscape architecture student at Manchester Metropolitan University, won first prize for her design in a competition sponsored by Didsbury Civic Society, who will partly fund the £27,000 project.
The garden will feature ornamental curved steps planned around an existing mature elm tree in the south Manchester suburb.
Jenny, of Derwent Street, Leigh said: "There is a tight budget and I understand some materials may have to be substituted for cheaper alternatives. However, I feel fortunate to have won and to have my design created."
