A SUPERB flowing move resulting with Ben Craig's second goal of the game sealed a fine win for Rossendale.

Paul Andrew found Chris Woods on the left and he raced clear before checking inside and his chip over the last defender was met by a diving header by Craig.

It was Dale's fourth goal of the game which finally killed off a spirited St Joseph's side who battled back in to the game after conceding two early goals.

A thunderbolt effort from Chris Goodwin gave Rossendale the lead after five minutes following good work by Paul Andrew and Craig.

The Saints hard-working forward Liam Lacey came close to an equalise with a floated free kick that went just over the bar.

But Dale stamped their authority on the game soon after. Craig lifted the ball over Saints stranded stand-in keeper Tommy Steel who had raced out of his area to deny Chris Stevens.

Craig then had another great chance to extend Rossendale's lead but opted to try a go around Steel rather than shoot and the keeper recovered to clear the danger.

It was a let off for Saints who responded well and went in search of a goal to get back in the game.

And they nearly got it when Geoff Ainsworth had a shot blocked cleared off the line.

Steel then produced two good saves from Sean Noon -- the second a long range effort he tipped on to the bar.

Craig was again denied by Steel after some fine play by Goodwin and Andrew.

Just before the break Saints Luke Rewaj flashed a shot across the area after breaking free down the left.

The next goal was always going to be the most crucial.

And Rewaj should have grabbed it when he raced clear but saw his shot saved by Jenkins before John Levar cleared his follow up shot off the line.

Saints skiper and play-maker Ben McMillan went close with two good efforts but Steel was always the busier of the two keepers.

Steel made two good saves from Paul Andrew and a Gavin Jackson header before Rewaj again raced clear at the other end before Levar again made a timely intervention.

Steel was in action again to deny Craig before Andrew finally coverted number three with a well taken goal.

The goal of the game followed soon after and Craig grabbed his second with a diving header after a great peice of skill from Woods.

In fairness to St Josephs they kept on going and grabbed a consolation goal through Rewaj after Jenkins had saved Lacey's initial shot.
