DRINKING eight pints of Stella at his local cost Darryl Haslam his job and his good name.
Blackburn magistrates heard that Haslam had been drinking at the Bridge Inn in Clitheroe.
But as the landlord and a barmaid tried to get him out of the pub at closing time Haslam grabbed the woman's arm and pulled it upwards and backwards.
Haslam, 22, of Taylor Street, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to assaulting Jeanette Vincent. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £100 compensation and £55 costs.
Wendy Chappell, prosecuting, said Miss Vincent refused to serve Haslam when he asked for more drink after closing time. He staggered across the pub, helped by the landlord but was unable to open the door.
" He then decided he wasn't going to leave and grabbed Miss Vincent," said Mrs Chappell. Miss Vincent went to hospital and was treated for torn muscles.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said Haslam had sat at the bar all night and the barmaid had served him eight pints of Stella.
Mr Church-Taylor said Haslam could not be interviewed by police until he was sober and as a result had been detained until after lunchtime the following day.
" He had been due to travel to Ellsmere Port with his work-mates and because he didn't go he lost his job," said Mr Church-Taylor.
