PICTURE the scene, a Victorian charity workhouse.
Orphan boys march towards their places at the sparse dinner tables.
They're dreaming about food, glorious food. But although they are picturing the pleasures of hot sausage and mustard, followed swiftly by cold jelly and custard, all they ever get is gruel.
It's a heart-rending story which always leaves audiences asking for more -- and you can get it in Burnley with a new production of 'Oliver, the Musical'.
The Brunshaw Action Group and Youth Centre's staging of the Lionel Bart classic will be presented at the Brunshaw Centre from Thursday, January 3, to Saturday, January 5.
Rehearsals are underway and going well, a spokesman for the group said.
So if you want to hear Oliver plead: "Please sir, I want some more," and Bart's legendary score again, tickets are still available at £3.50 for adults and £2.50 concessions.
They can be obtained by phoning 01282 459506.
