POLICE today revealed they had interviewed the woman at the centre of an allegation of a sex offence at Blackburn Rovers training ground.

Detectives quizzed the girl after an alleged incident at Brockhall Village, off the A59, on Monday night.

The allegation followed Rovers' Christmas party at Ewood Park though club officials have stressed it was not related to the party.

Two members of Rovers staff voluntarily attended Blackburn Police Station on Tuesday where they were questioned by detectives and later released without charge.

Police now say it is unlikely the two will be spoken to again regarding the allegations.

Det Chief Insp Steve Hartley, who is leading the investigation has said a full inquiry is under way into the circumstances of the alleged offence which will continue until police have pieced together exactly what happened.

A spokesman for Blackburn Rovers has confirmed they are aware of the allegations against the members of staff and that they are conducting their own inquiry into the alleged incident.
