AN angry dad saw red when he believed his ex-partner's current boyfriend used "foul language" in front of his daughter.

Burnley Magistrates heard how John Kershaw, 29, kicked Jacqueline Hardy's door, smashing the lock. The day after, following his works Christmas party, he went back, broke the door casing and stood in the street swearing and shouting obscenities.

Kershaw, of Basil Street, Colne, who told the court Miss Hardy had been "baying for blood," admitted two counts of damage and was told to pay £60 compensation and £55 costs.

Tom Snape, prosecuting, said the defendant went to the complainant's front door, was extremely irate and said he was unhappy. She told him to go back when he had calmed down but Kershaw started kicking the door, causing the lock to come off.

A friend in the house went to speak to the defendant, told him they were going to call the police and he left.

Mr Snape said the next day, Miss Hardy returned home at about 8.40pm and found Kershaw had been trying to contact her. About five minutes later he arrived at her home and started kicking the door. The casing was damaged from floor to ceiling and the door opened.

Kershaw told the court he had been led to believe Miss Hardy's partner had been using foul language in front of Kershaw's daughter.
