BLACKPOOL folk have been issued with some rubbish advice this Christmas.
Lancashire County Council has announced five tips to help residents beat their seasonal bin bag bulge.
A council spokesman said: "The traditional season of over-indulgence is almost upon us and once again 'waste lines' across the county will expand.
"Every year in Lancashire each household throws away around 1 tonne of waste and much of this is thrown out during and after Christmas. Lancashire County Council is therefore urging people to feed their bins less."
The council advises:
Where possible try and buy things in bulk or with less packaging
When you go shopping for Christmas take your own shopping bags rather than relying on plastic carrier bags from the shops
Think about buying rechargeable batteries that you can use again and again for toys and other gifts
Before you go shopping for food think carefully about just how much you need -- it's easy to buy too much but with just a little thought you can save yourself waste and money
Recycle as much as you can by using your local household waste recycling centre or recycling point -- log onto www.lancswasteinfo.com and click on the Bring Site section for more details.
And to find out when your bin will be emptied this Christmas just look for your normal bin days in the list below.
