RAMSBOTTOM UNITED are putting their Mr Versatile, David Yorke-Robinson on contract after receiving an approach for the former Oldham Athletic youngster.

Yorkie has hit 18 goals this season for the Rams from midfield and playing up front and is only three behind the club's perpetual leading scorer, Russell Brierley.

Kirkham and Wesham, who head the West Lancs League and are looking for promotion to a higher division came in for Yorke-Robinson and Rams' boss Mike Kelly reacted by placing the player on contract.

"It's something I have been looking to do for a while. David has scored in nine consecutive games and this move is a measure of how highly we value him.

"It is only a matter of time now before somebody comes in and offers him better money, but if anybody wants him now it is going to cost them money," said Kelly.

Ramsbottom travel to Clitheroe tomorrow, then entertain Abbey Hey at the Riverside on Boxing Day (kick-off 3pm). On Saturday December 29 they are away to Congleton.

Paul Horridge will continue to deputise in goal tomorrow for knee injury victim Alan Fairbrother, who is also facing the prospect of a five-week ban in the not too distant future.
