MR Roy Davies (Letters, December 17) claims that in my letter of November 28, I stated "the Government has got everything right..." In fact, the exact wording was "no one is claiming that the Government has got everything right." A rather different slant!
During the last few weeks Mr Davies has complained about everything under the sun -- low inflation, vast investment into the country, low mortgage rates, Darwen town centre, Christmas lights, falling crime rates in Sudell, improvements to the town centres, reduced VAT on domestic fuel, above-inflation increases for pensioners, street lighting in Olive Lane, the service he receives from local councillors, uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all!
He even complains about the record investment in the health service, which is far more than that promised by his beloved Lib-Dems. Does Mr Davies have anything positive to say on any subject?
Maybe he wishes to put a positive slant on the Lib-Dems' opposition to the working families tax credit, the 10p tax rate and windfall tax for the New Deal which has seen thousands of people move from welfare to work.
However, I doubt it!
COUN DAVE SMITH, (Sunnyhurst Ward), Avondale Road, Darwen.
